👍 FRACTURE (2007) UNDERRATED GEM WITH ANTHONY HOPKINS & RYAN GOSLING - MUST WATCH!!

Proof that great movies are constantly overlooked and never really get the attention they deserve, Fracture (2007) is an underappreciated thriller starring Anthony Hopkins as Theodore Crawford, an old man with a genius intellect who kills his wife after he finds out that she has been cheating. Ryan Gosling is prosecuting attorney Willie, who is eager to quickly wrap up the case with the knowledge that Crawford has given a verbal confession, but Crawford's methodical foresight slowly but surely turns things in his own favor.

Fracture also stars David Strathairn as Willie's boss, Rosamund Pike as Willie's new boss if he is able to secure a promotion, Billy Burke as Willie's star witness and the detective on the case who is discovered to be the defendant's wife's lover, and a small part for Bob Gunton who plays an uncharacteristic non-antagonistic role.

Fracture is unique because we know Hopkins killed his wife, but the way he is able to turn the tables and make the viewer almost like the guy hearkens back to his Hannibal Lector role. The ending has been frequently cited as the film's weakest point, and I have to agree with this sentiment. Despite that, Fracture still deserves to be watched.
