Za'haran sketchies

Sunday streaming was a bit messy today and will probably be messy over the next couple of Sundays as I continue struggling with logistics, and then will stop completely because I'm going home for a month!

Then it got cut short because there was a few too many heavy thundercracks that sounded on top of my house so I shut the computer down.

In  my continued attempts to try for a sketch every day I decided to do  reference/study style shots (I find those hard going as well but easier  than pinups, at least they serve some kind of purpose, I am slightly  addicted to storytelling I guess).  It worked out pretty well for this  one, got done pretty quickly.

Then I decided to colour it.

Oh well, I can call it a colour reference or something now I guess.

I love the expressions on its (his? her?) face. The two angles have only subtle differences but they convey two very distinct emotions. Amazing! The color combination really worked well. While some more shadows could be added to give this a little more depth, the piece looks well composed. Interesting detail about the Yin Yang necklace. I wonder who has the Yin part hmmm Great job!

Thanks! ^_^ Za'haran is a prettyboy XD Glad the facial expressions were clear enough, he tends to have rather subtle expressions in this block :)

Yeh I often sacrifice better lighting for speed. Hopefully I'll improve on that as I speed up.

I was actually vacillating over posting this one here or not. Do you think I should post more like this or just keep it to the "good" stuff? (or at least the slightly better stuff in the case of my storytelling sketchies)

Just keep at it, and you'll improve over time. I'm sure of it ;) The passion you inject in your work is indicative of the potential your work could achieve!

I say post away :D Personally, I've had that dilemma many times, hence why I post seldomly. But, I always advice people to post their original work, not minding if it's not the best ones. You'll get feedback, encouragement and motivation once you do. If only I could follow my own advice hah!

We can both post the stuff we're not sure about together then XD

Haha! I think it works better for drawings. One can easily add or remove from the piece, as opposed to written work that would be cemented in the readers' minds after the initial reading.
