Stag leap
I dashed this one off instead of doing things I should have been doing. I'm such a rebel. The pony stag leap was so much...er...fun that I decided to do the human version as well. Well before she was a thief and a vigilante, Zara was a gymnast. The stag leap was one of her favourite jumps, though she doesn't do it often anymore, in favour of her favourite flip, the split-legged back sault which she happily adapted into her signature backflip kick.
Even with bases foreshortening is still my nemesis!

Oh wow! This is so nice! I like how it's set against the sky. Really gives you the feeling of how much hang time she has. Nice colors, too! Though, I'm a bit bothered how the right hand looks :/

Thanks! ^_^ Foreshortening is my nemesis! Even using a base couldn't help me! I was fighting with that entire arm forever before I decided YOU ARE JUST A SKETCH and just put up with it, and it bugged me the whole time I was colouring and shading and is still bugging me now that I've kicked it out the door XD
Along with several other things that's bugging me and my neurosis :)
Maybe the basic detail of the hands would help. Left hand looks perfect though. Haha! I like how you put your foot down and let the sketch know what's what! THEY DON'T OWN US, WE OWN THEM!
Kinda have to otherwise everything turns into an epic XD I actually went for years accepting the fact I was incapable of doing anything other than mind bending thoroughly exhausting epics. I think it was shortly before or shortly after I started doing the Patreon that I decided I really needed to increase my output hence the sketches which are supposed to be fast and loose.
The best I've been able to manage with the shorts are just making then comprehensible on their own, they still tend to be part of bigger stories XD All the AER stuff especially is either backstory or meanwhile (I have been contemplating doing some future stuff but had some trouble finding stuff that won't spoil the current). Aside from that I think I'll just have to accept I can't do shorts ;D
Yeah, I get what you mean. It's a hard balance to master for sure. What I'm certain of though is that I know that we're going to find our groove one of these days. Just keep going at it, and produce all the work you feel passionate about. We're going to be successful. I believe it in my soul, my friend!
Yep :) Time is the big killer. I'm stuck in the annoying catch of I need to be able to spend more time with the hope that I'll be able to do more work and see if more people would be interested if there was more stuff to see and if progress could go a little bit quicker, however it's impossible to get that time unless I am already pulling in more money so that my partner can retire to do the stay home parent stuff XD
[insert extremely crass remarks about the workings of society here]
So I do the next best thing which is bursts of overwork (the hard art there is keeping the frequency of the bursts down but sometimes I just get into a mood, you know how it is XD).
Do you have a partner? If not utilise the time you don't have a partner or kids while you can ;D If you're the kind of person that likes those kinds of relationships they are totally worth it and I wouldn't trade my lot for anything, but they do take up a lot of time XD
I have a girlfriend, but we don't live together. I'm sure I would be more productive once we do. Rather, I sure hope that we would become more productive. Hahaha! It could go both ways and we could end up getting nothing done because we spend it on trivial things hahaha!
