Octopus girl!!!
Hi. Today I bring you an illustration that I did some time ago, as you can see is an octopus girl. A friend served me as a model. We took several pictures until I found the pose that I liked the most. Then look for what type of octopus fit better in the illustration I wanted to do and more than anything with the personality of my friend. The octopus I chose was the red octopus of the Maldives. Its shape and colors gave me several ideas for illustration.
Super cool! I actually really love octopus mer-people haha I did my university degree project on a mermaid meeting an octopus boy in a forbidden part of a kelp forest. XD
I love how this girl has some colours in her hair and a very random cat hair clip hahaha!
I guess even Mer-folk like cats! Maybe it's a cat-fish? hee hee

It looks pretty cool, although the passage between human and octopus feels a little bit odd, and also you put a lot of texture right under the lady, on the octopus tentacles.. this drains the attention of the lady and drives it all over the canvas, which is not good because you need a focal point.
Maybe you can put the lady lower on the canvas and draw a butty behind her, let me show you what i mean...

Something I could spot as well is that you are getting too lost when it s about light and shadows, try to think about the whole thing as a volume and give it a better understanding of where the light hits and where the shadow is =)
Thank you very much for taking the time. The tentacles are supposed to come from the waist, but I like what you propose more. As for the light and the shadows you are right, that and the perspective are the two things in which I need more work. 😬
