I just bought my first small alt coins!! Yes I jumped off my Coinbase cliff.
I have been using coinbase over the last few years, so I could only choose from the big 3: LTC, ETH, BTC. I have really enjoyed the process of using that application. I think its been great to open my imagination to the possibilities of these things. Now that my wallet has been steeped in these coins for so long, I have been thinking about jumping through the alt coin rabbit hole, I decided to do it. My brother has been messing around with different alt coins for some time now, I have meaning to follow through and try and today was the day. He bought hundreds of Steemit a looong time ago. So I have been walking around with my hands in my pockets for too long.
Everything was down today but a few currencies, I didn't care, I consider myself a long term investor. I purchased 100 GNT (Golem) 
I think the Golem Project is a smart plan, in my eyes its perfect because of my experience as a 3D animator, we used to have to hook up all these servers to render out small animations. In the future with Golem we may be able to use it and buy some Skynet bots. I then got 100 XRP (Ripple) Which I believe was started by a some banker types, and XRP is trying to break into providing financial settlement solutions. I made some other small investments too but you can ask me if you care.
I just really look forward to motoring these over the next few years. I decided to post this in hopes for some feedback or maybe I can inspire someone else to get out there and try some new things out. Thanks for checking this out.

Welcome to the altcoin club! Golem is incredibly promising and could easily compete with IoTA once their infrastructure is in place.

Where did you decide to move your coins to when you got off Coinbase?
I actually have a cold wallet, I keep most of my things there. I will keep Coinbase, to monitor minimal amounts and I only pulled some into the trading application. Not sure If I did it the right way but I still think i'm better than before.

Yeah, I agree on the part that Golem has some future if it can deliver the stuff which the team is expecting it to.
Yeah looks like we are on the same page! They also talk to me on Twitter so I was longing to join, I just didnt know how. Good thing my brothers in the game.
