HARD WORKING PALM. painting 2014.
During the winter from 2013 to 2014 I spent two and a half months in India.
It was my first time there and I was impressed by the amount of people everywhere, the constant smells and noise. Unfortunately I was in a city for most of the time, Pune, so I sound it very contaminated.
The air was constantly think with fumes and smoke.
The city on the other hand is full of trees, many many large ones, living amongst this contamination. I felt they were working hard and making our air a little better and wanted to reflect this in a painting.
Just outside the window of my painting studio there was a coconut palm tree I must have spent hours contemplating it´s patterns and that is the one that went down on this painting.
It was my work ally.
