Exotic places and colorful dreams.
Sometimes in our dreams we can visit some very exotic and interesting places. This pagoda represents a dream that i used to have as child, a recurring dream...well...more of a nightmare really. It always started in the same situation, playing in my front yard. Then i would spot a weird quilt-like blanket on the ground. Then it would slowly rise up as a bizarre patchwork ghost, and slowly advance towards me. Of course i was terrified, but i always managed to outrun the extremely slow moving entity.
Far off in the background, past the horizon but looming up from behind it, was always a city of pagodas much like this one. Always they were aflame with these vibrant oranges and purples, but i could never get close enough to see them in great detail, because they would move away from me as i ran. Despite my best efforts, i could never actually reach them...
I am curious to know what a psychologist might have to say about the symbolism of the dream. Perhaps the quilt is a amalgamation of the past, trying to catch up with me, and the city represents the future? Perhaps this entity was a manifestation of the unknown, and the distant city was my safe place? Who knows, and i guess who really cares? Regardless, this weird dream haunted many of my nights. The strange things that inhabit our psych, these are the things that make us who we are :)

I have a recurring flying dream. When they first started years ago, I would be holding a feather and flapping my arm with all my might, only to hover a few inches off the ground. Over the years I got higher and higher and it got easier and the feather disappeared. Now when I have the dream I just fly as far and fast as I want. And sometimes I have dreams of being chased by something, but then I remember I can fly. So I either fly away, or fly at whatever is chasing me and destroy it. I'm basically Superman in these dreams.
I think if you're able to turn around and face the thing chasing you, that constantly receding city might just start getting closer.
Well i haven't had the dream since i was a kid, but i imagine you might be right about that :)
nice content started following u :D Please see my blog and follow back if u want :)
Will do, and thanks :)
I love that the scary thing in this dream is a quilt with nothing of substance underneath it. I have fears like that, horror stories I tell myself that never happen. They have no reality, no real substance, yet their appearance in my mind scares the bejesus out of me.
I really like your idea that the quilt is an amalgamation of the past. I wonder if it's saying that running to avoid scary things that happened in the past will never lead to the place you want to go. That's a message I need to hear over and over again, so thank you for sharing this.
Glad you liked it, and thanks :)
