After Nine Days... A Not-So-Grand Reopening!
Well, after nine days of sopping up water, cleaning and treating for mold after our flood last Tuesday, Red Dragonfly Gallery quietly re-opened its doors today.
The building isn't fully opened yet, and we still have industrial drying and heating equipment running in the back room, but at least we feel like the end is in sight. Supposedly, we will be fully open by Monday, when the service company working for our landlord gives the green light.
A heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported and encouraged us along the way!
So what have learned here?
Even when you think you are really well-prepared, there's a good chance you aren't. And no matter how well prepared you may be, you will still have minor losses in a disaster situation.
Make sure you really understand your insurance... exactly what it covers, and what it doesn't. Insurance companies are really good at finding loopholes, if it means they get to NOT pay you for losses.
Back up your records. And to whatever extent you can, keep important records OFF the premises. Having to hand dry 100s of hand written sales orders is not a great form of entertainment.
Above all, stay positive! Early on when something bad happens to your business, it may feel like the end of the world. In fact, it DOES feel like the end of the world. But stick to it and keep cleaning up... and things will return to some semblance of normal.
Hopefully this coming week I will be able to return to more "regular" posting!
Thank you for reading! Red Dragonfly is a proud member of the @sndbox creative initiative.

After the rain comes sun, how much cliche it sounds. You will be back on tracks soon :) Have a good day.
Thanks for the encouragement! We are doing the best we can... now comes all the legal parts with insurance companies and so on.
Ahhh good luck with them too!
We often seem to react to everything but business comes with ups and downs . Stay strong and be positive because positivity gets us through everything , even things that at the moment seem like death
Thanks! This has definitely been an up-and-down couple of weeks-- hopefully brighter skies will lie ahead!
