Illustration || Pink Dolphin, Beautiful and in Danger

Hello, today I want to share with you this illustration of this particular species, the pink river dolphin, its color is so curious, but unfortunately it is in danger of extinction.

This species lives mostly in the Amazon River, the Orinoco River and the Madeira, it is the best known of the 5 species of dolphins that live in the rivers. Its most notable physical characteristic is its color, but they have not always been pink, when they are born they are gray but as they grow their color turns pink, it is not known exactly why this color, but the best known theories are by adaptation to the river or by temperature. One of the difference of the sea dolphins is that they tend to be less sociable and fearful of unknown objects.

Tragically this beautiful and striking animal is among the most endangered species of cetaceans in the world. And not by natural predators but by the poaching of the fishermen to be used as bait, for this reason these dolphins are usually solitary or not stay in groups larger than 4. Even the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) it qualifies them as a species in serious danger of extinction.

When reading and writing about why this species is being threatened, I only ask myself, How to take the life of this tender and particular animal without any conscience? How can they not feel guilty knowing that they are destroying the animal fauna of cetaceans?

For me this animal is simply spectacular and incredible.

I started making the sketch, and remarked it with a marker.

Then I drew details to the dolphin, and I painted the water.

Then I started coloring.

The sky, paint it with orange and yellow chalk, then make the mandalas.
