Update to Art Tour at the beautiful Maitland Art Center
" The Maitland Art Center (formerly known as The Research Studio) is a historic site in Maitland, Florida. It was founded and designed by architect and artist J. Andre Smith (1880-1959) in 1937 as an artist colony, dedicated to experimental art. Funded by philanthropist Mary Curtis Bok,[3] the colony hosted artists such as Ralston Crawford, Milton Avery, and Consuelo Kanaga. It is located at 231 West Packwood Avenue. On November 17, 1982, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places." Wikipedia

Another feature artist at the Maitland Art Center was Derek Gores. "
"One of the 40 important artists of the New Contemporary Movement"
http://derekgores.com/collage
"New York born Derek Gores is an artist who works predominantly in collages using recycled found materials such as magazies, labels, data and both analog and digital photographs."

"In a sea of images, Derek Gores is making unique pictures that stand completely on their own. Their blend of abstraction with such interestingly familiar portraits and stills create a dichotomy that really works." http://www.an-mag.com/derek-gores/
" I was super tight as an 18 year old, but once I saw the end of that particular path I’ve loved anything that can distract or get in the way of that kind of accuracy. Water, using two hands, all sorts of outside influences, collaborations with the subjects, etc." ---- Derek Gores
Derek Gores process for his works of art. > "I do some wet drawing work that starts from abstraction and sometimes becomes an object, often figurative or spacial. However In the collage work I work it backwards, from a photo reference in a space I breathed, and then I do start with a simple sketch with a sharpie marker usually and then layer in the abstraction of the pieces of paper. I am after the essence of a real figure, often hinting at elapsed time perhaps, but I build the figure out of opposites. I like using linear, sharp, man-made elements you wouldn’t think of as art, like a schematic or a map for example, so that the life and the space you find is that much more surprising when it hits." -- Derek Gores
Wow @pitter-patter! Just wow! These dresses are really fantastic! Great way of recycling materials! I wish I could visit Maitland Art Center, too.
I'm sure that you have art galleries near you that you have not discovered yet. I still have more to post on the grounds of this unique art gallery. One of my favorite places to go to get inspired.
"I think artists are really the root of a tree. They can search for truth or reality in their own way, and the gallery can support them - the outside part of the tree, where it is more about reaching the outside world, connecting with the outside world. That is the role of the gallery." A. Balasubramaniam
Well, there are museums near here but I haven't seen artworks like that. We have Tekno Rampa at school and it shows off clothes like these made by clubs and other organizations.
This is great . Looking forward seeing your posts.
Hahaha. I don't join those contests, though. 😜
Why don't you enter the contests?
Nah. Just giving it to those who really wants it and I don't really like being in them. Just watching them is good enough for me. I'm best when cheering.
I totally understand that!
Cool stuff, love it!
nice artworks! good ideas too! :)
Beautiful post!
Totally gorgeous work here! Thanks for sharing. :)
