Jumping Jellyfish Doodle

in #art10 years ago (edited)

My last couple of doodles where all about getting used to simply making marks again. I was quite surprised at how quickly I managed to acheive that. So for my 3rd doodle I decided to try drawing something recognisable choosing jellyfish as my subject.

I started with the odd trumpet shape at the center of the large jellyfish, gradually adding more shapes and details until i had finished the bell. at this point i was a little worried as i thought the leaves looked more like the feathers of a headress and may be to distracting.

But I've become quite used to that worried in between stage over the last few days of doodling so left it there for the night. Picking it up again up this morning and working on it in short bursts around all that grown up stuff we adults have to do. This was my favourite moment of the day when I got nearly a whole hour undisturbed to doodle in my mums garden.

After compleating the large jellyfish I then added some more small jellyfish to the picture.

Making sure that each one was unique, this was quite difficult with the smallest ones, even with a 0.1 fineliner there is only so much detail you can add.

Overall this picture took just under 9 hours to compleate, I used Staedler pigment liners in sizes 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7

Thanks rigaronib.

The amount of detail is mind boggling. Looks great!

thanks, have you had a chance to test out your woodstaining skills yet?

Not yet, I am going to try wood burning first, I bought a wood burning tool! Will give it a bash at the weekend :0)

I'm taking what's written on that mug as a direct message to me :D Good morning beautiful too!
Love these doodles, intricate patterns.

lol good morning.
I love doing the intricate work, just hoping they work as well when i start in my a3 sketch pad and the other project I'm hoping to pull off.
