The Untouchables (1959 TV series)- My Favorite Series

in #art5 years ago

This is one of my favorite series, based on the book written by Eliot Ness and Oscar Fraley, compiles the memories of the first, who was a federal agent during Prohibition or Prohibition in the United States and how he fought against crime in Chicago in the 1930s, with the help of a special team of agents chosen for their courage and incorruptibility, who were nicknamed "The Untouchables".

The series had 118 episodes with a duration of approximately 50 minutes each, based on the chronicles of the experiences of Ness and his collaborators, temporarily located between 1929 and 1935. The musical theme of the series was written by Nelson Riddle. The other untouchables were played by: Jerry Paris (Martin Flaherty), (1st season only) Abel Fernandez as agent William Youngfellow, Nicholas Georgia as agent Enrique "Rico" Rossi, Anthony George as agent Cam Allison, (1 .ª season only) Paul Picerni (Lee Hobson), (2nd season) Steve London as Agent Jack Rossman, Chuck Hicks as Agent LaMarr Kane (1st season only). Other recurring actors were: Bruce Gordon as Frank Nitti and Frank Dekova as Jimmy Napoli. The narrator was (in English) Walter Winchell, whose voice of dramatic tonality, was very distinctive.

This series at the time was very criticized by the violence of the fights between the agents of the order and the gangsters of Al Capone at the time of the "dry law" in the United States. In Mexico, much of the season was published by order of the same government secretary, to avoid ideas to criminals, is that this series was great, for the creative of the criminals and the audacity of The Untouchables, to discover and catch the bands criminals like "The Purple Gang".

The show drew harsh criticism from some Italian-Americans, including Frank Sinatra,[6] who felt it promoted negative stereotypes of them as mobsters and gangsters. The Capone family unsuccessfully sued CBS, Desilu Productions, and Westinghouse Electric Corporation for their depiction of the Capone family. In the first episode of the first season, the character of "Agent (Rico) Rossi", a person of Italian extraction who had witnessed a gangland murder, was added to Ness's team.

Recommended Episodes: "Ma Barker and Her Boys", "The George 'Bugs' Moran Story", "Vincent 'Mad Dog' Coll", "Syndicate Sanctuary", "The Purple Gang", "The Big Train: Part 1" & 2, among others, all are excellent and you will not be able to detach yourself from TV or Monitor, before finishing it.
