What did I do to those poor books? Why did I destroy those sacred things?
Since 1994 I made many altered books as artworks. You can see some of them here.
In 1994 sometimes people asked me why I had destroyed books for my art. Books are holy objects. in a not religious way. They are harbingers of culture and witnesses of freedom. Nazis and other oppressors burned books and forbade them.
Many years ago I used to show to people that I put awful books for my artworks. Expendable ones. But I felt guilty anyway.
Today there are a lot of artworks made of books.
Seeing books destroyed by art is not a shocking view anymore.
I have conflicting feelings about that.

I love the different way an artist's mind works! Very cool!
@kus-knee (The Old Dog)
thank you @kus-knee! :)
nice post
thx! :)
cool!
I like these, they are interesting sculptures. Looking at the third picture from the bottom I'm thinking you might find the artist Tony Cragg's head sculptures interesting.
thx so much! I know Cragg's work and love it :)
I went to see his work in Edinburgh a few years back at The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, beautiful sculptures and drawings.
