Portraits, portraits! Images of identities :)

in #art7 years ago (edited)

When someone said to Picasso, about his portrait of Gertrude Stein, that she does not look like it, "That does not make any difference", he answered, "She will". ;)

Picasso probably never said that, but it's not important. I'm just thinking about portraits and images, in the age of communication. I drew a little digital portrait of Steevc, some days ago, and I looked back at all the portraits I did in the last years. I'm also working on a project I will do in november, consisting of an installation maken by hundreds of little portraits of people I know.

Faces and portraits are somehow becoming central in my art,  it seems.

Here are some portraits and a selfportrait I did some years ago:

Portrait of Hugo Pratt, pencil on paper.

Portrait of Robert Musil, pencil on paper.

Portrait of Elias Canetti charcoal and chalk on paper.

Self-portrait in a book, tempera on cardboard, cm 60x80, 2013.

This is some amazing work!

Good post!

Wow, nice portraits. I like that you used a book on cardboard for your self portrait.
