[ES/EN] ʚ♡ɞ Talleres en el Museo ❀ Art workshops at the museum ☆

Hi, babies, I guess that is usual for you (if you usually read my posts) to notice that I tend to disappear for a while and then I feel the need to tell you about the things I did while being absent. This time is no exception but I think it’s important to tell you that this isn’t something that just happens to me on social media, this applies even on Whatsapp or SMS (I know it’s horrible, ajhjshdgf)

Creo haberles comentado en mi último post que estoy asistiendo a talleres sobre dibujo y otros medios de las artes plásticas, dictados por los estudiantes de la carrera de Artes Plásticas de la UCLA. Son algo cortos, pero llenos de aprendizaje (incluso en los temas que ya había explorado por mi cuenta, como el dibujo anatómico); siempre siento que se puede aprender mucho escuchando a cada artista hablar sobre sus procesos o métodos para elaborar obras, así como también me parece muy nutritivo el compartir durante el proceso de creación con otros artistas.

I think I told you on my last post that I’m attending to art workshops given by the UCLA students. Each workshop lasts 6 classes but they are full of learning, even in topics I’ve already explored as anatomical drawing. I always feel that you can learn a lot just by listening to different artists talk about their creative process and I also find very nourishing to share with other artists during the creative process.

El primer taller al que asistí fue de Dibujo Básico y lo dictó la lindura de Aire, que la pueden encontrar en su Instagram. Sonará algo ridículo, pero aprendí bastante, sobre todo a encuadrar, tomar unidades de medida, hacer ejercicios de velocidad (aunque esto aún me cuesta un poco) y a practicar el claroscuro. El tema del encuadre me ha ayudado demasiado, porque siempre solía hacer ilustraciones que no quedaban centradas o que no respetaban los márgenes.

The first workshop I attended was Basic Drawing, our teacher was the lovely Aire (here's her profile on Instagram). This may sound ridiculous since I was already drawing but I learnt A LOT, specially to frame my drawings, practicing measuring units, velocity exercises (but this is still hard for me) and practicing chiaroscuro. The framing part was SO useful, my illustrations were never centered or over the edge of the page.

Tras haber finalizado dicho taller, comencé el de Manga y Cómic, donde hicimos bastantes ejercicios de figura humana y aprendí a hacer rostros y cuerpos con medidas establecidas que son mucho más sencillas que el método con el que yo aprendí, que básicamente fue “Mirar y dibujar hasta que saliera bien”, jajaja. También, aclaramos las diferencias más comunes de entre el estilo del manga y el cómic, practicamos algo de perspectivas, hicimos ejercicios de velocidad dibujando a modelos en vivo y al final, realizamos una ilustración de un personaje que desarrollamos en las últimas tres clases.

After finishing that workshop, I started on the Manga & Comic one, where we made several human figure exercises and I learnt the proper measures to draw faces and bodies which is WAY MORE EASY than the way I learnt (basically staring into people or references and drawing until I had a good result, hahahah). We also learnt about differences between manga & comic, made perspective exercises, velocity practices with live models and we finished by making an illustration of a character we developed on the last three classes.

Ha sido bastante fructífero este tiempo que he compartido con estos chicos. Justo ayer comenzó el taller de Libro de Artista, con el cual aún no defino muy bien qué haré, pero que me emociona mucho, porque amo los libros de artista y nunca me había animado a hacer uno propio.

This experience has been quite productive and guess what: A new workshop started yesterday. Is an Artist’s book workshop and I’m still deciding what I’m gonna create but I’m very excited to make this since I love Artist’s books and journals so much and now I’ll make my own ;w;

Dicho todo ésto y que saben en qué ando, espero seguir posteando con más continuidad por acá, sobre todo estos días, que ando algo enferma y los estoy pasando en casa todo lo que puedo. Recuerden que posteo muy seguido en mis historias de Instagram y coloco las ilustraciones en las que estoy trabajando por allí, así que pueden ser de los primeros que las vean antes de que estén acá en el blog o en alguna otra de mis redes.

Now I’ve said this and we’ve catched up I hope to keep posting more continuously in here, specially these days I’m gonna be home a lot since I have a flu. Remember I post a lot on my Instagram stories and I put the illustrations I’m working on in there first so you can take a sneak peak before I publish them here on my blog or anywhere else.
