'City Talk' 2017 - mixed media

Block by block, a mass of communication, information, advertising. Is this an assault on the senses or an exciting place to be? Neon that fights for your attention. Plug into the energy, and feel the pulsating beat that drives its way through the city streets.

'City Talk' is a mixed media work made from digitally combining a digital photograph and a collage on paper, made from newspaper, book text and paint.

Does a city have to be made from concrete and steel or can a city be virtual, made from a different type of blocks? Working together what can a community build?

Love this one! Wonderful blog you have, Ophelia :-) I am now following you.

Thank you for the follow and welcome to Steemit!

This is nice.

Many of us are building community daily online, or trying to anyways LOL

Have a good nite Miss O.

Exactly- is Steemit an example of the new cities?

I think it could be.

We have some issues and challenges here that are present and that is why at times, I have taken a stand.

There is too much power in too few hands, and like in other parts of life, it causes problems.

Very nice artwork, and love the idea of the city. I would say we have a 'city' on this site, drawn together from across the world, from the one's of all sizes we all live and play near. Very interesting idea. Thanks for more great art.

I think it's great that our connections across Steemit have grown into this community that chooses to meet in the physical world at meet-ups and SteemFest, and the real life projects such as @hitheryon's Steem-powered community garden!

Nice post. One thing I enjoy about Steemit is it feels like "the international city" with different people and cultures from a over the world!

Definitely, it's great having Steemit friends from around the world.

What a cool idea and art you made!
A city can be virtual for SURE! SimCity (I think that was the name of the game) already allowed building virtual cities back in the days (90s last century). Second Life was another very interesting twist to build a new city/country/planet more or less. We are now also building a city right here at Steemit, although we do not have the visuals as in the formerly mentioned services/games. Maybe something to add to Steemit? :) With Virtual Reality we are gonna build even more virtual cities, virtual countries, planet and universes even! Hahahaha, and then we want also virtual art to make our lives in those virtual reality world pleasant! :)

Ahh I remember SimCity- the early version. Games on Steemit may be a dangerous thing- we might never leave the house again!
Thank you for your awesome comment.

Steemit will be integrated with VR glasses and at some point in time directly beamed into you brains. But before we are there, there is also Augmented Reality. That is an overlay on visual view. We can mix Steemit with our visual view and be connected to Steemit all the time without the need to stay in house or whatever. Just wear some glasses. Also, we can have a voice frontend to Steemit, and some holographic projection device for the visuals. All mobile off course so we can walk and run around :)

Nut keep in mind: Second Life was/is not a game. At some point in time companies and governments where opening their stores and desks. It had the potential to become a different way of connecting with each other. Maybe the early version of a virtual reality worlds that we will gonna see in the future.

My friend had a job interview via Second Life. It seemed crazy to me at the time but now I can see this becoming the norm in long distant recruiting.
I'm not so sure about having things beamed into my brain though- i like to go tech free for a big part of my day.

Technology will make all of it able. Even downloading our brains, I;m sure we will be able to do that, maybe 30 to 50 to 70 years from now. But we will be able to do that at some point in time, I'm very convinced.

Johnny mnemonic style. But what if we go too far and we all turn into memory sticks like Scarlett Johansson in Lucy?

We will! Technology cannot be stopped :) Robocop will happen. Memory sticks will happen. Eternal life will therefore be possible. When we have a delete button and also allowed to delete all copies, than we may be able to end out lives.

Absolutely yes....... @edgar once made a city out of newspapers and watercolours.

I'm not seeing any posts under that username- could it be someone else?

i might get the spelling wrong, lemme confirm....

futurism city 8)

Thank for your comment @angielb, it will be interesting to see how our concept of communities develops with the future and technology.

Oh yes!, it's very excite how the technology will change our life in the next years. keep up your good work!

That's looking pretty good!

Thanks @jameshsmitharts. the original photo I took on the way into Manchester for CoinFest UK- so it is quite fitting I think.

That's one of my fav's of your work. I can imagine that being VR art on Oculus Rift or something. Very nice stuff :D

Beautiful work lady @opheliafu is a very creative work, congratulations

Thank you friend, I'm happy you like my new creation!
