Boxes
Boxes and their secrets
Pandora's box is an artifact from Greek mythology, in the myth Pandora opens a box (which in the original translations was actually a jar) and releases evils and death into the world. When someone starts something that could lead to lots of unforeseen problems we might say they have opened a Pandora's box.
This last couple of week's I've found myself drawing boxes. The first image you can see below, I created it on DADA in response to an image @twirble drew in the visual conversation 'timmy got a package'. The second box I have drawn is an illustration for @Dougkarr's novel Dwelling.
Creating an illustration for Chapter Four of Dwelling.
Geraldine's box
The image was sketched out in pencil, then areas were masked off with tape, before applying layers of inks. Textured kitchen roll was laid over the wet inks to soak up some of the ink and leave a pattern from the paper. Finally, details were applied with a dip pen and drawing ink.
Precious things
Morris finished with the lipstick, placing it back inside its crystal Things Remembered case, the engraved letters spelling out Geraldine above the polished silver heart and cubic zirconias.
Morris clicked shut last year’s mother’s day gift. He rolled the cellophane flower cone closer with his shoe.
If you want to find out more about what Morris has been doing then read @dougkarr's novel Dwelling - Chapter Four.

You can read the 4th chapter of Doug Karr's novel Dwelling now!

In Greece we use the phrase: ''The Pandoras Box'', when we wan't to emphasize that a simple action will have incalculable consequences!!!
I Love That Saying!!! Thanks For Sharing!!

Yes, that is my understanding of it too. Also like the phrase 'opening a can of worms'!
Yes it has the same meaning more less.
I can admit that is a nice idea to share your knowledge and passion about language with others. Especially when you you project idioms that are crystallized wisdom and with their use give a vividness to the expression.
Congratulations!!!
Enjoying your work with "Dwelling", and thank you for joining the conversation with me on Dada. I need to get back on there; my tablet is not working lately.:(
I've just been on there tonight, joining in with the drawing. I love the visual conversations on there. Hope you can jump back into the doodling soon!
Love It Thanks For Sharing!!! :-)

Boxes, in a sense, are marvelous mysteries potentially filled with miracles. And maybe shiny things. But then again, they could also be like Pandora's box and hold trouble and complications. One never knows.
Don't forget that boxes also inspires scientist like Schrödinger’s Cat mind experiment.
The experiment was hypothetical. A sealed box, a cat and a radioactive sample, a bottle of poison and a Geiger counter was placed in a sealed box.
The purpose of the Geiger was to detects the radioactive material. In case the Geiger counter detects that the radioactive material has decayed, the cat will be killed by the bottle of poison that will be smashed.
The purpose of the experiment was to illustrate the flaws of the ‘Copenhagen interpretation’ of quantum mechanics. The explains that a particle exists in all states at once until observed.
If the Copenhagen interpretation suggests that the radioactive material can simultaneously have decayed and not decayed in the sealed environment. This suggestion gives the ability to the cat to be alive and dead until the box is opened.
Yes, sometimes full of wonderful surprises, especially when a box of art supplies arrives!
very good idea :) thanks for sharing with us @opheliafu
Thank you @khushbakht
In everyday life there are many boxes of Pandora, you represented her beautifully. Beautiful your works, each one in a different style but with a lot of meticulousness and art. I congratulate you.
I put things in the boxes.
you are very talented I love the realism of this box dear friend @opheliafu
The technique you use is very good, you do incredible things. Congratulations
I wish you a beautiful night
Thank you for those kind words @jlufer
and when the young Pandora opened that beautiful box, a gift from God Zeus, she could not close it again, from it all the evil emerged and covered the earth, the only thing that remained at the end of that box was hope.
Pandora, curiosity killed the cat...haha
