A quiet bird

Feather

I found a striking black and white feather on the ground, I think it had come from a magpie. I took it home and placed it on my drawing desk. After a few days I knew what I wanted to draw, not a noisy magpie but a quiet bird. This feathered friend sprung from the depths of my imagination, ready to fly free!

I created the image with drawing inks applied with a dip pen, layers of watercolour and wax.

Ghost Bird

As the mist clears across the still waters of the lake

a pale ghost wades

Silently it moves

Gliding and stalking

Only a gentle ripple as the water breaks

frozen like a statue

As the sun rises

and the mirror glitters

It tilts its head

and dives

Breaking through the light

Such a nice post filled with a plethora of amazing creativity! The story behind the drawing really shows your poetic and artistic thought process, and the poem which follows really suits the drawing! Well done, and thank you for sharing!

PS: If you are interested and have some spare time, I have some poetry on my blog too. :)

Thank you for taking the time to get tangled up in my creative process!

You're welcome! It's impressive and inspiring. :)

Lovely painting, I like the last one with the yellow background, it becomes more of a dove than a ghost :)

Very simple yet so delicate and inspiring! :) though i do not fully understand the meaning behind your poetry, your drawing gives me such a beautiful feeling. And I just love the blue color in contrast to the brilliant yellow background :) Keep on the good work ^_^ And have a nice day to you too!

Again I am so impressed with your skill and the lightness of your work. It comes out particularly well in this subject and I had to look several times to find out, which feather was real and which is painted. Chapeau!!

such a lovely artwork and poem, @opeliafu ! Some days ago I found some feathers in the fields, they are pheasant feathers in the shades of brown. I love to collect feathers, they are really inspiring for art! Thanks for share ^_^

ooh I love pheasant feathers, those lovely browns!
I see the occasional dead pheasant on the roads- but I've never tried to pluck one! ;D

Fortunately I found just the feathers, but not the dead pheasant . I think some wild animals ate him, it's the circle of life, but I prefer don't see it ^_^

Very sexy birds !
Upvote and follow you.

Your lines and colors are so light, it leaves heavy impression though :)
