International Women's Day - 8 March

I would like to wish a happy Women's Day to all the Ladies on Steemit.

Here is something I drew just for this day.

Women's Day is an international holiday of women, celebrated every year since the year 1917 on March 8th.

On this day they celebrate the economic, political and social equality and achievements of women. On March 8, the initiative for the celebration was given by German feminist and socialist Clara Zetkin, born Eissner (1857-1933).

She began to fight for the equality of women in 1889. She gave the proposition for one day to be dedicated to women at the 2nd International Conference of Socialist Women in 1910. The first day of women (then not yet international) was celebrated in the US on February 28, 1909 when it was proclaimed by the Socialist Party of America.

For the first time, an international holiday was celebrated in 1911 in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Denmark. The holiday was set on 19. March at the time. International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8th since 1917.

In 1908 more than 15 thousand women protested in New York, as they wanted higher pay and voting rights. In Russia, Belarus, Macedonia, Moldova and Ukraine, a national holiday was already on March 8, 1913.

Women have already greatly approached equality with the general right to vote in 1945. In 1974, the Constitution of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia added a provision that every woman has freedom in deciding on the birth of children, and three years later, the right for termination of pregnancy was legalized. In 1989, the first emergency phone service was launched to help women and children who became victims of violence.
