A Hidden Gem in Raval
Tucked away in the narrow labryinth of what is El Barrio Raval in Barcelona's Ciutat Viella is the Àgora Juan Andrés Benitez, a tribute to a man who was beaten to death by police violence back in 2013. The Agora itself is a small plot of land, undeveloped with a couple lawn chairs and garden plots, a very strange sight in the crowded tiny streets of the neighbourhood.
Obviously from the nature of the namesake of the garden it's a bit politicised but it is an open space where people can get together, hang out and debate the issues of the day. You can tell there's a few of those issues looming over everyone in the area, judging by the mural hanging over the space.
