Walking a city: Edgar Negret landscape in Venezuela

This is a photo of a piece of art of the Colombian artist Edgar Negret (1920 – 2012), Its name is Augustinian Landscape Horizon and its located in the Francisco “Paco” Cabrera culture walk in the Carlos Sanda Avenue, Valencia City, Carabobo State in Venezuela.

 

Its dimensions are very impressive, 18 meters long and almost 13 meters tall. It’s the biggest piece created by him.

 

The favorite materials are Aluminum and iron in Negret’s art, using the last one in this piece.



 

The artists said that this is a representation of five mountains of Saint Agustin in Colombia, a landscape the artist use to see in his retirement in that city, this mountains inspired him enough to make this piece.

 

Edgar Negret along with Hugo Martinez and Eduardo Ramirez introduced the abstract sculpture in Colombia.

 

His pieces are exhibited in cities all around the world like New York, Paris, Barcelona and Bogota to name a few.
