Talk to the hands
I have been visiting my metalworker friend and watching a rather odd commission taking shape: the hands are going to act as supports for shelving.
The hardest part of any job like this is always getting the left resemble the right. Even if you use templates to cut all the parts, the pieces always move around, because it is made from steel sheeting, welded together.
The undersides, showing off the hollowness of the hand structure. This is to keep the structure relatively lightweight.
I wonder how these metal sculptors make such amazing crafts. After all, one must have not only artistic taste, but also be able to handle metal. This is a whole science.

Oh, wow! These are amazing. I haven’t read any of your previous posts, so no idea, really, of the context, but wow! I have a fairly persistent interest in metalwork — it’s pretty far outside general direction of most of my work, though.
I can relate to the difficulty in making them match. I’ve had to overcome a good bit of perfectionism in this respect.
