Easter
Hi, guys!
I want to talk you about the biggest holiday in Serbia today. It is a very special holiday for me and my family and brings joy to our house. In today's post, I want to talk about the customs that we have for this holiday. The holiday lasts three days and today is the third day.
Easter is the biggest holiday celebrating Jesus' return to life. By faith, it happened on the third day after his death.
Good Friday
On Good Friday afternoon, the canvas is shown showing the laying of Christ in the grave. The canvas is placed on a specially decorated table, in front of the altar. According to folk belief people go under the table and during the sagging, one should think of a nice desire, and this desire will be fulfilled. It is desirable not to eat anything.
Eggs and painting
The egg is a symbol of the renewal of nature and life and it means joy.
Egg coloring is one of the most beautiful Serbian customs. According to tradition, the Easter eggs are frightening on Good Friday, on the day when nothing else is done. The first colored egg is left until the next Easter and is called "guardian".
It looks like this... These eggs just made by my mom and me. We draw them with wax, other with shell onion and the last one we put in paper bags.
Typing eggs
The first egg is taken by the host and then a competition is created and the strongest egg is chosen and this is a great joy for the children. First, the boiled eggs are cooked, and then the rest of the food. On that day, if a guest comes to the house, he is first given a colorful egg, and then serves other foods.
I hope you like my post and if you have some similar customs, share that with me. :)
Nice eggs, I especially liked the ones further down that almost looked like they were carved out of polished wood.
It has to be challenging to draw on a oblong surface like that, but looks fun to try.
Thank you for sharing this.
I like the most them too. I'm glad you like my post. Thank you very much for comment. :)
