Hatake Kakashi: Naruto Character Drawing 01

in #art9 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemers,

This morning I realized I have now been on steemit for a full week and it is going well.

Today I am showing you one of my favourite character from Naruto.

Hatake Kakashi

I feel like I've done well and I am happy with the outcome but with some practice and more experience using the pens and pencils at my disposal I think I'll be able to do better. I would like to buy a few sets of promarkers or copic markers.

Hatake Kakashi Stage 1

I start with a blue pencil, any blue pencil. I aim to block out the whole character and the pose. I try to spend as little time as possible with the blue pencil however if proportions are out of place or the pose isn't right I can spend way too long at this stage.

Hatake Kakashi Stage 2

I got over the drawing with a standard HB pencil making minor adjustments to the overall shape and pose of the character. I also focus on adding in smaller detaisl to the character, face, clothing, ect...

Hatake Kakashi Stage 3

I move on to using pens in stage 3 but first I make any final tweak because once the ink goes down it set, done, no more changes to pose and proportions. With Kakashi the major thing I did before inking was to step his left leg out a bit(looking at it, it is the right leg). Stage 3 inkingcould be broken up into 3 steps, adjustments, fine liner pen, brush pen.

Katake Kakshi Stage 4

The final stage, adding the last marks to finish the character. I began this stage by finalizing the pencil shading and marking shadows. The I use a light promarker that I find is great for adding shadow to the drawing. Lastly I pick the rubber up to clean up the edges and lighten some of the pencil shading that ended up a little too dark.

I hope you all like it and if anyone has any feed back feel free to leave a comment.
Peace
Nath

Well done @ nathwright876 I watched naruto and that drawing you made is very realistic!

cheers @cynetyc

Are there any character from naruto you'd like to see in future?

Oh yeah @sunscape I would love to see any of them, but I must confess that I would love to see lady Tsunade and her big...ah..eyes...

I am a fan
I'll start it soon

Hey nice drawing. I also used to watch Naruto for a few seasons some years ago and liked it quite a lot. Now for there critique requested. The shading looks mostly pretty clean and stylistic as it should for this type of work, some parts are a little soft. Some details like the weapon could use some to pop them out. More attention needs to put where the light hits and where shadow is cast. There are some problems with the anatomy: The body seems a little short and gives more idea that he doesnt have much of neck rather than the sort of rised shoulder you may have been going for. the arm on the right side seems a little short too but this may all relate to the position of the head.. His legs seem good but his feet are a little small and missing some length in the toes. It looks like a small piece of paper you drew this on so it may be hard to make the details.I like the outline, you might try giving it different weight in some areas for more dynamic effect. It's a cool drawing though, very much in the spirit of the character. There you go, hope this will be of help and not too harsh.

Thank you very much
not harsh at all, a very good crit/feedback
You've confirmed my feelings about the arm on the right and that the weapon doesn't pop out enough. I've noticed I missed out the shine effect.
I like the idea of trying different weights on the outline. I've aquired a range of fineliner which will help me grade the outline work. I'll give it a try in my next drawing.
Again thanks for the feedback.
Great to hear, helps look at it with fresh eyes.

You are welcome and thank you, this is good practice for me as well.
