I love your article about pre-Christian pagan Britain and the customs practiced at that time. The hay bale art was so massive and interesting. I'm glad that you came upon it. It's always nice to hear about the old times and the customs and culture of history. We can learn so much from what was before us. Appreciate the effort and work you put into your post! Here's to #oldtimers!!!

Did you see my car in the distance? Just to give you the scale of the thing. It was massive.
What car?!!! Compared to the hay bale art I thought the car was a small rock! Just kidding :D .....I can't imagine how they managed to construct such a large piece of art. In fact, when you think about it, how did they do all the large structures in the old days when there were no machines? I love history because the things they built were amazing and all by hand or animals. Again, thank-you for your wonderful post!!!
The hay bale art is impressive but you should see what they did 2,000 years ago in Lebanon. I visited there last year and went to Baalbek (Heliopolis). The most amazing place I have ever been too.
The day was windy and the video camera picked up a bit of wind noise but the footage was just mind boggling.
To think they were building that place while we in Britain were running around nude and painted blue lol

It was just one of those weird interesting things. We do have a lot of stuff going on here. It's a first for me too. I'd never seen one of these before except when I was a kid and it was on the TV. I lived in London then. This country life is fascinating.
Interesting, and nice photos of them! Something like getting shot with a flaming arrow would make the perfect movie intro!
I think that they do actually set the thing on fire at some point. Something to do with when the harvest is on. I'll keep my eye on it and see if I can get the photographs when it goes up in smoke. It should make quite an image.
That thing on fire would, indeed, make some impressive images! They do something like that in Velencia, Spain, calld "Las Fallas."
Really? that's interesting. You just can't keep a good Pagan tradition down it would seem. Have you seen the one in Spain?
I wish! I always had to work, as I was in Cádiz and Málaga provinces. A friend of mine lived there and sent me photos. They build huge, elaboraste sculptures out of wood to burn. Why do all the crazy and awesome fire rituals come from pagans, anyway? Guess they just knew how to throw a party...
I think it might be to do with it being so cold back then and plus they probably had a barbeque going non-stop to keep the wolves away. And to cook up some party food lol

This is England and even more so the Fens. Weird stuff happens here all the time from UFO's too flat earth believers. We got 'em all lol
