"Playing Around" - The Back Story - An Artist's Tales
What do you think of this piece? Isn't it fascinating and mesmerizing at the same time? 😊
Anyway, I'm here to tell you some backstory of how I did this glass artwork.
This wall art of cats playing with a yarn ball was made after I polished my glass art techniques and was able to create intricate details using glass frits (small particles of crushed glass) and glass powders.
This work was inspired by and used a technique called “Kirigami” - an old paper technique of folding and cutting paper.
Using this technique, I was able to create a flat glass plane with cuts and holes and let it open in the kiln to create those 3D parts of the yarn ball.
The whole work is attached to a thin, white plywood, using a special technique - without any glue or binding material. The plywood can be easily attached to a wall.
Here's a closeup shot of this work.
By the way - this artwork "Playing Around" is available for purchase! 😀 The height of the work is about +- 80cm; overall width differs depending on the width of the wall it’s attached to.
