Continuous Line Drawing 1st attempt ever! - original art
Would you believe I've never attempted a continuous line drawing until today?

The artists who practice this art form are way, waaaay more patient than I. That's really all I have to say about that. Proof's in the puddin' - so they say.
Talent. Talent. Talent! None of it is mine.
If you've missed some of these, I highly recommend checking out their posts.

In her post, she shares how she added layers for color and played with variations on a theme.

His continuous line draws are jaw-dropping! I love Monolith and Desert Stones but this:
Mayan Pyramid

This is jaw dropping! Where he started is where he finished. I am shaking my head in awe. Like I mentioned, it probably took a lot of patience - and probably quite a bit of forward planning, right?
@keepdoodling
This artist is new-to-me but I just hit the follow button. In my search for continuous line drawings I couldn't help but fall in love with Dino on a bike
@poeticsnake
She did her first continuous line drawing during her 30-day drawing challenge in November. This was Day 28.

Time lapse of my drawing
Did I mention that I probably don't have the patience? Actually, that's probably a lie. I do have the patience but I was just messing about because I wanted to see if I could do this!
It's not easy at all!
I really wanted to continue but I lifted my pen.
Anyway, here's a quick time-lapse video of me doing this exercise. It may be my first attempt, but it won't be my last!
If you couldn't guess, it's my coffee cup and my phone, both of which always grace my work station. LOL

I love it that you're trying. And "talent?" No one ever knows if they have "talent" until they give their skills a fair chance to develop through study and practice. I must have heard a million times: "I don't have any artistic talent." Or, "I can't even draw stick figures." These folks never really studied and practiced so of course they can't do it! And, they presume that the ability to draw and paint is something you're just born with. Wrong! Creating art is a skill that anyone can learn. Certainly, we're all born with different aptitudes, but I've known hundreds of professional artists - musicians, painters, printmakers, photographers, singers, etc. - and I have yet to meet anyone who didn't earn their skills through hard work.
So keep at it, k?
Thank you so much for your comment @chessmonster
Thanks to the wonderful people here at Steemit I started drawing again after nearly 30 years of hanging up my art supplies. Truly, not since high school art class have I got to play - with the exception of helping my children with projects for school when they were younger.
My husband has probably been my biggest cheerleader and he's constantly surprising me with new pencils, paints and brushes. I'm trying them all to see where my love is. Next stop...acrylics! Just as soon as I get over my fear of the blank canvas staring at me. LOL
Just to add to what I wrote above...remember when you were a child: did you need any instruction on how to paint a tree with a mountain behind it and the yellow sun in the sky with emanating rays? Nope. And yet, children's art is so beautiful. Did they need "talent" to paint those wonderful pictures? Nope. So what happens then? People "grow up" and become critical of themselves and/or they are told that they're no good and to stop wasting their time at art because they need to get "a real job." Then they start believing that they can't do art because they have no talent.
My father told me throughout my professional art career that what I was doing was a "hobby." 😂
My parents said the same thing about singing as a hobby and yet I have many years under my belt as a professional singer. I'll probably never be famous or sing on prestigious stages but I made a decent living as a funeral singer for several years.
I have to say though, since joining Steemit, the art community has been so supportive and encouraging. So as I flip through many of my pieces I see a voice beginning to emerge and that is so exciting!
art in the sense of 'techne' can be practiced and improved, but I believe true art comes from the soul and requires an exquisite sensitivity. That cannot be taught. I taught writing for many years and genius is a gift
Oh my what fun. Thank goodness it is not always about the outcome, but about the process. Sometimes when I have thought a piece of art was on its way to becoming compost, I've let go of the ideas of it, and it's turned into a really great piece. Thank you for sharing your work and the work of others. Keep it coming--it's great inspiration for others to try new things
IT IS NOT EASY INDEED! Man did my hand hurt after I made that drawing!
I love yours btw and I really love coffee
You should marry me! <3
Bibi, do you remember how long that drawing took you? It seems so detailed with all the hips and valleys and shapes. COFFEE IS GOOOOOOD. Can't marry you 'til hubby kicks the bucket but we could be blood sisters. LOL
HA! Bloodsisters it shall be! To be honest I have no clue how long that drawing took me. a hour give or take I would say maybe less? No clue, all I remember is the pain in my hand because i could not lift my hand and had to keep going lol.
A mighty fine first attempt!
It was kind of fun - in a stressful, I'm recording this so I hope it doesn't completely suck kind of way. Next time I'll take my time but I will do more practice. This was to get a baseline to see if there's improvement later on. :)
Very good job my friend @ merej99. Congratulations
Thank you @jlufer.
btw - I forwarded that adorable video of your granddaughter, but I think you may have already sent it to @winstonwolfe? What was the video editor that you used for it?
Excuse the delay in the response, the video of the baby record it with a green background, the video of the elephant search the internet with green background, then edit the material in Sony Vegas, an option that is to work with green background, this Option selects the green backgrounds and lets see the image you use of the enchanted house.
I'm glad you liked it.
Thank you very much for asking my friend @ merej99
I can draw the little house with one line, never tried anything else, might have a go :)
It was actually kind of fun once I relaxed a little...and then I lifted my pen! LOL
But hey, my life's a mess so why not my drawing too, right? hahah!
Your life isn't a mess you have a lovely man r
there looking after you :)
nice 👍
Lovely! Nice job, @merej99! :) :) :)
Thank you @creatr - I have an old notebook that I'll be practicing in so hopefully my next post with continuous line drawing won't be so...messy. LOL
Don't disparage your success! I think it's grand! ;)
Oh, I love the whole idea of collecting thematic art from all the steemit artist in the one place :)
interesting...can you draw a perfect circle freehand?
