In addition to Orthodox churches in St. Petersburg, there are churches and other religious denominations. One of these churches is the Lutherpian Church of St. Anne. Today it is the functioning Lutheran church in the center of St. Petersburg with the arrival of the Church of Ingria.

In 1775, during the reign of Empress Catherine the Great, a stone church was built for the assembly of Lutherans. The author of the project was the architect Yuri Felten. The opening and consecration of the church took place in 1779.

Lutheran Church of St. Anne at that time was in the open place and came out with two almost identical facades to the Fourth Artillery Street and Furshtatskaya Street. The church of St. Anne still had the name of St. Anna's Kirch. Thanks to this name in 1826, the Fourth Artillery Street was renamed Kirochnaya. In 1850, a German organ was installed in the church of St. Anne. By the beginning of the 20th century, the coming of this Lutheran church numbered more than 12 thousand people. The last pastor of the Lutheran Church of St. Anne until 1935 was Arthur Leopold Malmgrem, who headed the German-Swedish consistory since 1920.

In 1935 the church was closed and this building was given to a cinema. In 1939, the architects of Gegello and Kosven converted the building to a cinema, called "Spartacus."

In 2002, the government of St. Petersburg decided to return the building of the Lutheran Church. But in the same year there was a fire and the building inside burned almost completely.
In 2010, the Lutheran Church of St. Anne was restored and began to function as part of the Church of Ingria.

In 2016, the arrival of the St. Anna Lutheran Church totaled 20 people. Divine services are held every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in English and at 3:00 p.m. in Russian.

Now you know that in St. Petersburg there is an architectural structure that for a long time served the Lutheran faith and parishioners - this is the Lutheran Church of St. Anne.

See you soon on the streets of St. Petersburg.
