Another of the famous places in St. Petersburg is the island of New Holland. New Holland is a unique architectural monument and represents two artificially created islands in the delta of the Neva River. These two islands appeared in 1719 between the rivers Neva and Moika, when for the shipbuilding needs two channels were dug Kryukov and Admiralteysky. The very name - New Holland is rumored by Peter the Great himself.
In 1732, the Main Admiralty commissioned the architect Ivan Korobov to build a network of swimming pools and a number of warehouses along the entire perimeter of the island for the needs of the Russian Navy. And the architectural complex "New Holland" was built in 1765 - 1780 years.
In 1788, the French architect Jean-Baptiste Wallen-Delamot was involved in the construction of red brick buildings.

Today this place is very popular among tourists and residents of St. Petersburg as a place for rest and leisure. This is a cultural and entertainment historical complex giving an idea of the period 18-19 centuries of the existence of the city.
