🔵 How to paint feathers - use of leftovers
When we paint on the watercolor papers there can small clippings left. It would be a pitty to throw them away. There are many things you can paint on them like leafs, flowers, gems or feathers.
Today I would like to show you how to paint feathers. There are more ways, so lets look at two of them.
Watercolor + liner
We will need thin round brush and watrproof liner.
🔵 First we need an outline, so we can draw it with the liner. We can start from the top, or with the rachis. Then use light blue to fill the feather.
🔵 Now we can start to paint thin lines inside of the feather. Don´t paint them all the same, it would look unnatural and use more shades of blue.
🔵 Finaly we can paint white dots with acrylic paint. Watercolor will connect with it and create light shade of blue. It is nice to paint some background. I used orange so it creates nice contrast.
This type of painting was more dry, now we can try also the wet one.
It is quite simple... Just quickly paint the whole feather with water and then add colors. First light colors, then wait till the water soaks into the paper and add darker. They wont spill too much.
If you don´t find some use for this paintings, you can put them into your sketchbook, or art journal.
Thanks for watching!
