Being Steel - original paintings

in #art6 years ago

"Being Steel" is a series of original paintings of landscapes - with the twist that the landscape isn't the focus of the painting, but rather the elements that 'stand out' of the landscape: the telephone-poles along the road, with the wires between them.

In retrospect, this must have been the step between my older landscapes and my more recent Niflheim-y-paintings (the islands floating in the sky, for those who have been following my work a bit here on steemit).

Thanks for looking! What do you think of these, what do they remind you of, or how do they make you feel? Let me know in the comments!

I've always loved power lines, street lamps, infrastructure. There's something spooky about these ubiquitous landmarks which we take for granted. You capture that really well.

Thanks! Yeah, they're structures which almost go unnoticed and yet they have quite an impact. Thanks, much appreciated!

I agree. And there is a dreamlike day dreamy quality about them.

Really beautiful silhouette drawings, love your brush strokes and the composition is very ethereal and thoughtful <3 Gorgeous works.

Thank you very much @veryspider!

They remind me of ships on seascapes :)

Aah, nice, hadn't looked at them from that point of view! Cool, thanks!
