Intro

Hi everyone! Introduce me @mariajunia a trapped child who lives in one of the most damn cities in Indonesia. And this is the first entry I entered a contest organized by @danielfs with Abstract themes. I try to lift the bustle of everyday life that I see and experience in Jakarta through my abstract artwork. I made three works by using acrylic paint on duplex paper that has smooth surface texture. Hope you guys like it.

Sidewalk Shared Together

The common property that we understand is to be shared or public interest. Awareness of each individual will every function of each public interest itself is now shifted into the fulfillment of each human ego, so there is no respect for the function of the public facilities itself which ultimately the facility lost the effectiveness of its function and create irregularities that spread to all interests within the city itself. Whereas the word "property" means nurturing, because every wearer has an obligation to keep it as well.

Strugling for freedom

Jakarta is full of busyness, and the interests of each individual makes the residents immersed in the busyness and make them struggling in maintaining their life and existence. The desire to break free in the pile of obligations and routines in the busy capital so we do not have time for reflection and attention to the circumstances around.

It's useless

Got a car in Jakarta yes there wrote.
Why have a car in Jakarta, going anywhere but in fact not going anywhere;
Why wear a car in Jakarta want to go home could 3 hours on the streets;
Why have a car in Jakarta if you still bribe to get away;
Jakarta is full of ego wars and interests plus you with your ego!

Actually if viewed more deeply to find the reason why this all can happen is due to factors too low level of human consciousness living in this city. Well it can not be denied that almost all the people who are domiciled in Jakarta are migrants from out of town or more dekanal with urban people, where they depart from the place of origin to this city with the aim of getting a decent livelihood here. Because Jakarta itself is a metropolitan city and is also the capital of the country of Indonesia. So with all that it makes them to keep racing to meet the needs and desires of his own life, and indirectly ignore the surrounding space.

I make this artwork as a form of my response to everything that I feel, is not there where the role of art? Like the example of a painting that I picture with many cars. This has become an acute problem in Jakarta, the streets are jammed. Loss while going to work / school in the morning and time home from work / school in the afternoon. I feel using a private car on the streets of Jakarta is not a good thing if given the street conditions are jammed due to too many private vehicles that operate.

Imagine, almost every house in Jakarta has three private cars, one for father, one for mother, one for children. Is not this a waste? While there are many public transportation and facilities that have been provided by the government of Indonesia to serve the needs of the community in performing daily activities. If it continues like this I'm sure, would like any amount of street / infrasturktur built to overcome the problem of congestion in Jakarta will never be completed. This is just one case example among many other cases.

I spent about 8+ hours in making these three artworks. Well, here's a little story of my heart about what the meaning behind the artwork I made to follow this contest. I hope that the contents of this post can provide benefits and education as well as a reflection for anyone who reads it :)
