Aceh Traditional Dance

Of the dozens of traditional dances in Aceh, some have been declared almost extinct due to modernization.  The dances are Laweut, Sining, Landoq Sampot, and Rapai Geurimpheng. In this paper I will explain a little about the four dances:

1.Laweuet Dance

The first is the Laweut Dance: derived from Pidie which is played by eight women. This dance contains a recitation of syair to Prophet Muhammad who accompanied the rhythm that shows the patriotism of the people of Aceh.

2.Sining Dance

The second dance is the sining dance of the Gayo highlands. Sining means beautiful circular motion, similar to Wo bird movements. At a glance this dance is similar to didong and guel dance. But the dance played by these two men is usually performed during the construction ceremony of the new house. 20161123_20161123AAN-112.jpg

Rapai is a traditional percussion instrument of Aceh which is played by being hit with empty hand. Rapai played for entertainment during the ceremony in Aceh. In appearance, this dance is accompanied by the battering rhythm with a rhythm that can encourage the audience.

When old traditions die it is often such a shame. Will these Dances get help form the government following the designation as Extinct?
