Dicktator Don - his eyes light up!
The artist Dd has created a experimental piece called Dicktator Don. It's a refinement of her earlier project "Stabby Man" which looked at representation and violence. When the "grab her by the pussy" quotations came out, Dd adapted the doll to look the way he does today.
The basic premise is simple. Don has LED eyes and contains an electrical circuit that makes his eyes light up if you stab him in the underpants area with a pin. Dd has made Don to help elicit stories - your reaction to the piece is part of the piece. I think it's an interesting way to look at mens place in society, the forms that male violence takes and how we all deal with that violence. Don's are being distributed now, sign up for one here.

Help me to understand: How does this make an interesting way to look at mens place in society? All I can see is the normalization of stabbing men in the genitals with sharp objects. Is the mutilation of infant boy's genitals not enough?
Also I don't understand the statement about "the forms male violence takes and how we all deal with that violence".
I mean, thats a pretty broad statement. I rescued a damn housefly from drowning earlier, son.
I am genuinely confused and hoping for some clarification. Anyone?
