Miku, but mine :)
I always wanted to draw Hatsune Miku in my own style, and...I guess the inspiration finally hit me lately? :P
For every fan of Vocaloids, she's no stranger - and almost the definition of Vocaloids for those that aren't too familiar with the subject. If you happen to not know what Vocaloids are, just think of them as software designed to sing, paired with a character design so that they become virtual singers, or hey - there's a Wikipedia link up there! I'm pretty sure that it's helpful :)
Actually the source of the urge for this drawing comes from the recently announced Tower of Saviors x Hatsune Miku crossover event, which made me feel like having a Discord profile picture featuring her. Took some trail and error in trying out different designs to see which works the best for what I wanted to have, and in the end I have this :3
Now, I heard that people love to see step-by-step breakdowns...
First, we have the head!
Maybe you've guessed that the whole thing is drawn with geometry shapes and mathematically defined lines...yes, it is. It's also a throwback to my very first few drawings with mouse. Originally I wanted to use the tablet for this task, but it turns out that I like the mouse more :)
It's first done by drawing a circle for the head's shape, and following up with the curves for the hair. After I'm done with it, the parts of the circle which should be covered up by her hair are erased.
And indeed, it's a challenging task to erase it safely...I even had to fix the colours on the erased edges pixel by pixel, lol.
After that, I went for her signature twintails...
To be honest, the twintails are my favourite part of this drawing and I had quite some fun dealing with them. You can't make them too simple, as it would be boring. And at the same time, it cannot be too detailed to be distracting from other parts of the drawing. Trial and error again here! But not a painful one :)
Honestly speaking, I have some phobia of dealing with eyes in a drawing because I always mess them up, so I went with a super simple design on another layer...
Maybe I'm too paranoid but...okay let's move on.
Clothing. This is a tricky part, because very honestly speaking, I'm not too much of Miku's default outfit... so what does this mean? This mean I'll have my own design over here...
Simple and warm? :P
After that, the decorations I love...
Triangles are the good and simple particles that don't look wrong most of the times :) For some reason I find them suitable for most of the places, especially if you are making particles that are flying. Of course it's also possible to create beautiful flying particles with other shapes (reinforced on pixiv.net often uses a mixture of polygons for the job and they are beautiful, be sure to check that link out!), but for simple stuff and if you don't know what you're doing, try triangles.
The lines (layer name as "Lasers"...what was I thinking?) were some further decorations that I thought would be nice to have. Vocaloids, so how about some waveforms? :P Originally I wanted to have the traditional line waveforms, but apparently that turned out to be too messy or distracting and I couldn't find the balance, so I ditched that...ha.
And in the end we reach what we have on top of the post :)
It's really been a long time since I last drew something, so...hope you liked it? :P Wrapping this up and see you next time!

P/s: It also just happens to be Hatsune Miku's birthday on 31st of August...yeah, they have birthdays too, lol. :P

Didn't know you can draw!
Hehe...now you know :P
Nicely done, is that Photoshop?
It’s Krita, a free software :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Pleasure!
