CHAOS! - in the art studio

in #art7 years ago

Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees. Sometimes I can't see the studio for the chaos, and this is only half of it. What you might see in the bottom left of the photo is small portion of huge set of shelves I've been building over the past week to bring some order to the studio. But, that meant creating a building site first, and thus, introducing further chaos.

Talk about two steps forward one step back! Anyhow as of today, I've managed to clear some of the disorder away and reclaim some free space. I am still yet to cut some more boards for the shelving, before I can relocate everything to a more orderly arrangement. But, I am getting there.

It's "little" tasks like these that take me away from the painting (and Steemit). OK, I could have saved some time and gone and bought shelves, but I like recycling materials. So I only have myself to blame. But in the end, I will also have myself to thank for extra storage, a clearer work space, and more peace of mind.

An orderly work space certainly contributes to productivity. My father's workbench was always a horror to behold, and a nightmare to find tools on. Having take not of what not to do, I have always made an effort clean up my tools (toys) after use, lest the chaos beast grow and claim everything within sight, rendering it frustratingly invisible.

I wouldn't say that I ever have hospital or military orderliness in my work space, but I keep things at a manageable level. Quite frankly, the studio was starting to fill up, and well that demanded action - new shelves.

So there you have it. At least part of my story for recent prolonged absence from Steemit. End of rant, and almost end of the studio chaos.

Haha, I know how sad all that chaos Can be sometimes 😓😂

I usually clean up my studio before I start a new painting and I also like to have my tools there in a decent order. In my woodworking shop it can get quite messy, with all the sawdust and parts and tools piling up. Try to get that back in order between jobs too, but its a much bigger challenge than in the studio... Like recycling and building too and understand, that you don't want to go and get shelves from else where :-)

Now that I have a cellar space, I have my stash of building materials out of the way. What I would really love to do, is build my own house from recycled materials. In my London warehouse I used quite a good deal of recycles. It's amazing how it all turns out and some times even better than what you might afford to purchase as a finished product.

Keeping the studio tidy is an ongoing process for me. I'm going to have a decent purge soon.

Having a cellar is a big advantage. As long as its not like here, where its more like some dark moist dungeons underneath. But we still have a decent amount of space... at least one advantage of our "Burg" ;-)

Ha ha what a mess. I like it 😘😀

There was more to it than that. ;-)
