What do you guys think of creating a steemit art club?
I admittedly was inspired by the book club being started. -which I joined and am PUMPED about- I was thinking of creating the same for art.

I don't have the specifics figured out yet as I wanted feedback from the community but my idea was to, like the book club, have a steemit chat and then post a project in the beginning of the week. Example: Everyone make art involving trees and then we all submit our projects on Friday and either we simple post them all and split the steem dollars, or I was considering a vote for a winner weekly? I like the idea of splitting evenly though actually, that way everyone of all skill level is inspired to join, and rewarded for creating art. We could always also have a monthly contest?
So, we could have some mod type people that take votes on project ideas. The goal would be to have a wide variety of projects that challenge us as artists. Maybe scenery one week, animals the next, human features after that. Just a fun way to stay motivated. We could also have a weekly conference where we discuss what we learned/how we enjoyed it and can record it. (all ideas from the book club post that inspired me as it's such a cool community-building concept)

I know I always need more motivation and inspiration myself.
I remember loving having creative projects in college. I was often asked to make art I wouldn't normally make and it helped me so much to grow as an artist. I think that this could be the same for us. We would all have a reason to create at least one awesome piece a week and would likely get inspired by doing it and start creating more in general. :)
So far I have only asked @kaylinart about her interest in joining and she is in but I definitely need more artists, obviously. So, I just wanted to spitball some of the ideas out there into the community and see what kind of feedback I get.

I have no huge expectations for this and am not sure if people have the interest or time to be involved in a Steemit art club but I thought it was a good idea and worth a shot. :)

Just start using a tag like artclub and setup a channel on steemit chat. It should be that simple.

I don't think there's a chat yet (from what I can tell in my search). Would be a good idea to start! :)
Just give it a shot and see how it goes. I don't think there is anything to lose. In case you do want further opinions there is an #art channel in the chat too where you could ask.

I'm down. I've been considering doing a timelapsed scratchboard piece. I need to re-up on my supplies though.
Yay!! :D this'll be fun. That also sounds fun. I bought black paper and white charcoal because I wanted to try to do some art with that but never got around to that either. >_<
I always need to re-up on some supply. That's the down-side of trying so many different mediums. :) Worth it though.

Yes, exactly, just some motivation to make art. :D If weekly is too intense we could do bi-weekly, but one thing a week seems pretty lax.
I think this has already garnered enough positive response that I will give it a shot and see how it goes. :)

Thank you! and yay! I love your art. I am thinking I will go ahead and post a theme tomorrow (did 4 already today) and tag it with art club and ask everyone to do the same. Maybe instead of posting em all myself we could all just tag our weekly submission with "artclub"? I am not sure but I am going to try to get it off the ground tomorrow.
Thank you! And yeah, i think everyone posting them with a tag is a good idea. And then maybe when the theme is done you could put them all in one post, where the next theme is included as well? For me, a week is very short btw, I don't know if others agree or not, but I would prefer 2 weeks for each theme.
