Brings to mind the kaleidoscope I had as a child - plan green cardboard tube, frosted glass and tiny, tiny specks of colour - not sure how many mirrors as no pattern ever seemed to repeat. Held me fascinated for hours (so it seemed) scarcely able to breathe or move in case the pattern changed - but then to be replace by another. My sister left it in the rain. I have never been able to replace but this post you kindly shared is the nearest.
