Art in Asian Countries Compared....
The art and culture of Asian countries are closely related with one another. The arts and culture of one country permeate another country's by way of trade, migration, direct importation and religion.
It was probably the Korean artists who brought painting to Japan in the 7th century. The next influence came directly from china through the Japanese priests. Buddhism stimulated art in Japan as well as in China.
The Taj Mahal in Agra, India is of muslim architecture built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Because of the migration of the Hindu culture a strong Hindu-Buddhist tradition permeated Indonesian art and culture especially in architecture, theater and dance.

In Bali, Indonesian religion is intertwined with dance. This is also true for the Igorot and Ifugao dances in Northern Luzon, Philippines. Music and dance often combine magico-mimetic rituals in connection with rice planting and harvesting.In Indonesia and Japan, music is closely related to the theater and the ceremonial dances. There are similarities between Indonesian and Philippine indigenous cultures showing common ethnic origins. Another feature of Indonesian arts is its textile-making, including the beautiful batik. The T'boli of South Cotabato, Philippines makes similar art form by way of their tie and dye called T'nalak.

Pencak, an Indonesian fight dance is similar to the martial dances of the Muslims in Southern Philippines. Indian culture permeated Indonesia not only in architecture but also in theater and dances. The Wayang Kulit, believed to have been known as early as 1000 AD is not only an entertaining perfomance but also an important ritual in the lives of Indonesian people.

The Chinese influenced Japanese art for many years yet Japanese art emerged with its own distinctive character. Japanese art is more people-oriented, while Chinese art seldom portrays people. If it does the people appear like old man.

Chinese buildings are usually identified by its curved roof. Some people mistake it as pagoda. Usually, a pagoda has at least seven stories. Each story is a repetition of the first, diminishing as it gets higher. Compared with China, the Japanese temples are more richly ornamented and more delicately curved.

In the Philippines, the bahay kubo is the most common house found in the rural areas. Bamboo and nipa are the most common materials used. Similar structures are also found in the rural areas of Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
