How Do You Paint Happiness?
There's a lot of talk about happiness on Steemit today, which got me wondering how artists have tried to capture happiness in paint through out history. This is also research for a piece that I am working on in which I want to include a sense of joy.
In chronological order, here are some of the paintings I thought managed to express something of happiness.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Luncheon of the Boating Party, 1881
Mary Cassatt, Mère et enfant (Reine Lefebre and Margot before a Window), c. 1902
Henri Matisse, Dance, 1910
Marc Chagall, The Promenade, 1917
Pablo Picasso, Joie De Vivire, 1946
Grandma Moses, Joy Ride, 1953
I think you found some great examples!
