Sia Falls Apart on Live TV but We Love Her Anyway
This is my Art Blog, so we will cover the good and the bad. On Good Morning America on Friday, Sia was set to perform. So we programmed our DVR to record the event.
Sia holds a very special place in the hearts of those in our home. In my opinion, she is #1 in the category for Solo Female Artist. There are many close seconds, but Sia's unique voice, the cracks and squeaks that have become her signature style, and her absolutely HUGE body of work has meant so much to us over the years.
However, last Friday Sia's voice clearly gave out and left her unable to perform... In mid performance... On Live TV.
Sia looked devastated, as if she had been crying which is highly unusual for the bubbly, uplifting attitude she typically carries. Sia realizes in multiple places throughout her performance, that there is just no way she will be able to hit those big notes everyone was waiting for. Her voice box shuts down and her performance falls to pieces.

This is common with performers who use their voices as much as she does, those notes she hits are no joke folks. I have heard rumors that people like Celine Dion don't speak at all at home, even that she has not spoken at home in many years simply to keep her voice in shape for hitting those huge notes.
As an artist, we have good days, we have bad days, especially when it comes to live performances. Hopefully, we can see the warning signs and take action in time, hopefully our manager can be there to help us realize when we are just pushing it too hard.
My wife shed a few tears watching our hero struggle like this, so I tried to offer a few words of encouragement.
Sia could have lip synched the entire performance and no one would have known the difference. But Sia is genuine and she has a great deal of heart.
We are all human, shit happens, and when it does... The show must still go on. We were all only there to see Sia and we would take Sia on her worst day. Under incredible pressure and overwhelming emotion, Sia stood strong for us. She finished up probably one of the worst performances of her life, and we loved her for it anyway.
Yeah, that kind of stuff happens to everyone if they perform that much unless they fake it. She has an amazing voice, and is an extremely gifted song writer.
