Alternatives
This drawing was made to support the Diaspora-project that I have used for four years now, a decentralised social media a bit like Steemit, but without the money. It consist of a network of decentralised servers called pods. To illustrate this I made a camp-fire circled by a very diverse group of people. In the background you can see people queuing the enter the fires of the mainstream networks.
Above the small alternative fire is the Diaspora logo and the logo of Friendica another network that share protocol with Diaspora in what is called the Federation.
I have been asked why other decentralised networks like redmatrix/hubzilla and quitter were not represented, and the answer is that I did not know about them at the time I made the drawing. The same could be said for Steemit.

The network is one of the most privacy aware places on the internet so you do not need to deliver any data on yourself. Write a post with the tag #newhere and present yourself. The Diaspora network is good at greeting newcomers.
