A Step by Step Caricature of Vitalik Buterin

in #art7 years ago (edited)

OK I'm new to the whole cryptocurrency thing and, I shamefully admit I didn't know who Vitalik Buterin is.

Some research was needed and, boy!  was I educated!

Vitalik Buterin is about 23 years old and is the co-founder of Ethereum and Bitcoin Magazine.

He was born in Russia and his family emigrated to Canada when he was 6 years old. There, in 3rd grade of elimentary school, he was placed in a class for gifted students. He showed remarkable skills in mathematics, programming and commerce.

He became interested in bitcoin at the age of seventeen and, in 2013, started full time work on Ethereum.

Here are the steps in the caricature:

Step one - What head shape to use?

Caricature is all about distortion and this is half the fun...Big cranium, large ears and thin neck....

Step two - Add detail to see if this will work!

Try to get a likeness and study the image to see if translates well....

Step three - Values!!

Values are the shades of grey that will give shape to the face.

Step four - Add a basic color background

This is a nice background to add skin tones

Step five - Blocking in the colors

Restricting myself to a large brush, ensures that I only get the basics of color values down

Final - Step six

Add detail and likeness....I enjoyed this!

Hope you enjoyed this and my salute to a young genius!!

If anyone has more information I would appreciate hearing from you!

The final polished work is absolutely breathtaking! You have my deepest respect sir!

I draw as well, but I never have been schooled in arts, it always was my passion. I am since a year trying to get some structure and learning how to caricature from a book written by Tom Richmond, and since then I am working hard to upgrade my work. It is the observation which I had to (and still have to) drastically improve, as most of my past works were mainly via the mind`s eye. But when I see works of talented people like you it gives me a big boost, it really is inspirational!

Just keep watching @madmilo and I will keep posting these. Feel free to ask any questions and I will try and give answers that will help you grow your art.

Thank you @juniorshelver , when I can put a finger on what I would like to know, I will ask! :) but watching your work helps a lot already, and it is very funny! I love caricature!!!

Well it makes my heart glad that it brings a smile!

Nice graphic tablet! I never used one, someday I will buy one! I would like to vectorize a person with my hand on illustrator. :) Steem On!

Not just a Pretty Face , then?

Who Me or Vitalik????

Must be you!

Wow this is amazing, I always wondered how to get the likeness on a caricature. You did an amazing job @juniorshelver

Hi @andraskalmar-art. Rough gesture sketches are useful to "document" what your brain is experiencing. But sometimes I struggle with likeness too! Thanks for the comments and look forward to more art from you!
