✨Benefits of being part of Steemit/Breaking the ice ❄️
Many posts here are written from different angles about benefits of being part of this network. Each of us for time is present here for sure made some progress in work, life, thinking, connections, became richer with wonderful people met here..and money not to forget :)
From start I noticed how many people from #art topic here are using some other tools more than traditional one I'm working with. And I followed, watched their great posts, step-by-step tutorials and admired what great kind of works they had made.
Never even tried before myself in this kind of art, so for past few days I took in hands my tablet, it's simple Alcatel Pixie one and pencil, well, simple one, not those I would like to have one day...So I said, what the hell, tools are not some but let's try..
And not to forget two persons here very important for me to even come close making this post. First one is @vermillionfox, she told me about app she is working with but unfortunately I was only able to download this simple one app called Sketch. I'm following her work for a long time and enjoying in watching how her work is becoming better and better. She posts process of work very nicely so she is first reason I made my self to step into this world.
Second person is magnificent @beekart, but he is king in his work..Some 100 light speed years ahead :) Also he is posting great videos with tutorials that are so useful, even just to watch it.
And here we go, this is first of the drawings I have courage to share here
Took one old collage drawing to make it as a model for this one, also thinking how can I improve it in this kind of work.
Wasn't working over it, it just served as template ..
And here is sort of process of work I was able to make
Final work
I know, lot of mistakes and there is long road in front of me, but must admit to you all..As much as I was scared even to come close to work now I can't stop ..Like when you give to child a new toy and it's playing only with it even there is room fool with toys :)
Be free to comment, I would like to hear all, good, bad, suggestions...There is no progress if you hear only ''good job''..
So go on guys, kill me :)!
I love how this turned out! I think you will catch the digital creation bug.
I used to only work in real life things, doing oils and printmaking. 2 years back I was in London and trying to find a studio that would house my stuff and be affordable. It was so frustrating and an artist friend said, well, why don't you go digital for a bit, until you find your stuff. I started using someones tablet to get the feel. Then I bought a second hand surface with a drawing pen that lets yo draw on the screen. It was so light and popped in my bag. I was so hooked I then bought the wacom tablet and I never looked back.
Sometimes, when I am improving a sketch digitially before I start painting/colouring digitally. I will forget I am on a tablet and have found myself going to use my finger to smudge a charcoal line only to remember it is digital charcoal and my tablet isn't a touch screen (they do make those, but I am on the fence about it)
This was really a great piece you made especially as you just started and didn't even have the programme you wanted. Also LAYERS are an artist true friend! When you do digital watercolour, the possibility to go over and remove exists in a way it does not irl.
Have fun and I hope to see more digital! I always mean to share my work but haven't figured out how to record my screen.
Know what you are talking about working space..I stopped doing oil paintings when i was living in apartment of 20m2 :) So I started doing watercolors because of space and smell..And found my self in it so much..But digital art is something around me so it was my time to see will it fit me..And I love it ..
Look, if you are not satisfied with print screen save I save each layer in photo gallery and than upload them to this free online giff maker ..http://gifmaker.org/ and save them again to publish it here on Steemit ..If that's what you thought of?
I did finally just use a gif maker online, it might be that link you shared, and it was easy. It still ins't a very large gif, but it works and was kind of fun. I will learn to do it in photoshop. Whenever I try something like that and fail I stop and find a quicker solution been then always set the task to go back and try again to tackle it, I'm stubborn like that ;)
Yes, digital is so space saving. And the amount of tools and supplies you can have would be ruinously expensive to own in real life and take so much space to store them all! And you can mix water and oil in digital!
This is really good, I wouldn't have guessed that you just picked up a tablet. You have great skill as an artist, so it's not surprising your drawing is beautiful. Learning to use the painting programs is the hardest part of digital art... It's so different from physical media. As with anything, the more you do it, the easier it gets. It's true too, that there are some great digital artists here with very helpful tutorials. I really want to see if I can find my old Wacom tablet... Though it would be like starting all over again, learning a new program. Haha
Did you play with lots of layers and transparency? I loved the flexibility of being able to change and play with so many parts... And the undo button. Hahaha
Thank you @offbeatbroad :) Try out yourself, it's good tool since this days I'm taking my tablet with me everywhere and drawing like mad man every free second i have. You don't carry papers, colors, water, brushes...I think you will enjoy since you are mother with so many obligations during day, this may be handy to you so much. And considering layers :) Well, tough one, all i know opened 5 of them but other details, what have I exactly done, kill me but I am not sure what have I done :))))
digital is fun. you can even take it further. I use details from my work that in the end you could not even recognize where it came from. The good part about using a actual artwork as a starting point is that once cranked through the digital process, brush strokes and marks are retained, as opposed to painting digitally from scratch, which imho looks plastic and artificial.
Thank you @thermoplastic, for sure I will go further. Love the idea of use of details, will try it once. And gladly will hear more comments for my future works from someone so skilled as you :)
I use those details and mirror them - then again and again, stitching together, some are used for fabric designs. One example here, from a old colored drawing (india ink, colored ink and acrylic) - this is just the start, I mirrored it several times to use on garments, but the files are too large to upload here:
you can right-click and open in new tab for more details and zoom
I love this work! I will follow you and am looking forward to your next post.
I make my work digital too. At least for this moment/period in my life. I miss the smell and feeling of my normal tools but I see also a lot of upsides. I develop much faster because there is more room to try things.
I use Corel painter by the way! It is way more intuitive then sketch for me and if I not had found this I would have given digital up I think. Maybe they have a free trial? They had when I tried it and decided to buy it (my first ever bought app).
thank you @barbaraseevelien :) It means a lot to hear that I'm on right way. Still I will stay on this simple app and than go further with more complex one. Will have in mind your recommendation about Corel :)
Your welcome. Your are certainly on the right way!!!
perfect drawing :) I love my drawings! what a creative brain and what a beautiful artistic spirit! congratulations. kisses
thank you @artizm, yes this is one crazy 46 years old brain :) Learning like kid still :)
As always a spectacular job. Digital work has its advantages and the good thing is that your bases in analogy are excellent. So enjoy the facilities that digital gives. 👌
thank you @ruygda, nice to hear from artist like you comforting words :)
I think one of the great things about the Steemit community, is precisely that we get to see so MANY different styles and types of work others are trying-- particularly in the "art" category.
I like what you've done here! It always takes a while to learn a new technique.
thank you @denmarkguy, agree totaly, beauty of diversity is Steemit greatest treasure. And learning is long process, sometimes we need whole life and it's not enough :)
How cool !
I like the original version a lot too !
YOu doing wonderful. i never heard of that program "sketch".
Go girl ! You know i love your drawings !
thank you thank you @agneslaczo :) It's app I downlouded from Play store online, free one. It's hasn't got lot of tools rather say it's poor one, but I thought it's better to start with easy one and than learn more complex tools. Try it if you can, it's fun :)
This is incredible.....and your first try at a new app or at graphics. You have a bucketful of talent @jungwatercolor!
Did you make your banner? If so it's awesome. If not, it's still awesome :)
thank you so much @countrygirl, i was so afraid to post this one :)
Yes, banner is made from detail of my watercolor portrait -Mermaid-
There is some BeFunky online free editor I'm using. It's simple one but great and that banner is made with it.
I'll have to check that site out....I have it open and it looks interesting. I also like free. :)
I understand about being afraid to post something you've done. I think it's every artist's angst. I always think my stuff is crappy. Very rarely am I pleased with what I do.
Remember that beauty and art is in the eye of the beholder. Much like poetry.
Yes, it's easy to use and has some basic editing tools for photography.
I don't have those doubts when drawing and watercolor are about but this is something totally new to me, so that's why I was so in doubt :)
You did a fantastic job! When I started it was very difficult for me to get used to the tablet. I think the most difficult thing is recreating textures to make it look like traditional medium. I can see so much potential in this! I am curious about which sketch program you’re using and I am also planning on recording myself drawing soon so I hope that will be of some help to you!
Thank you my dear @vermillionfox :) Yes, digit art has so much potential, and it's such fun, can't believe I missed it. Waiting to see your recording of work.
