Lee Jong Suk Portrait, using GRAPHITE on Vellum board
This is my 3rd Korean subject that was requested by my classmate.
This was really a challenge for me because the details on the reference is so hard, there are some parts that the highlights are difficult to obtain. I have to think a way over and over again on how am I going to do the effects.
😎I watched youtube tutorials before doing this artwork.
😁I used Graphite (8b, 5b, 4b), blending stump on Vellum board paper.
Tip: Use 4b pencil when outlining the lines that are needed to be darken, then use blending stump to smudge the 4b outline. Smudge it in cross hatching style so that the dark skintone will become smooth.
This is where the real challenge happened. Making the crown is really hard. I used White signo pen for the highlights that made it look realistic.
Process:
Done with the crown and moving on to the shirt, the shirt is pure black so I only used 8b pencil, I also used the crossh hatchig style to make it smooth and balanced.
If you want to improve, do not depend on others, just do what you must do and try to find a way for you to fly high and achieve your dreams.
I'm sorry for the low quality camera, I do not have a good camera because I do not have money to buy for it. 😅
