Between Combarro and Armenteira: the Samieira Viewpoint

We continue our route, to another fascinating destination, which will surprise us not only based on that austere but balanced, elegant and original Romanesque that still stands out in the church, but also for the peculiarities that define part of the extraordinary life of another curious character , which is also considered its founder and whose name, San Ero, should already put us in the background: the monastery of Santa María de Armenteira.

The route, which continues parallel to a fantastic coast formed by the twenty-three kilometers in length that has, approximately, the estuary of Pontevedra, enchanting by its extraordinary beauty, offering to the traveler, in addition, the opportunity to contemplate in situ some populations of remarkable charisma intoxicating -Marín, Poio, Combarro or Samieira, among others- located, no doubt, in an environment of privilege, where the sea and the forest combine in a monumental way.

From the top of Samieira, and at a distance of just seven kilometers from Armenteira, the viewpoint attracts the suspicion of the traveler, who first thinks, seeing the front facade and the Romanesque arch of the entrance, is that probably at that same point and instead, there would have been a church or a hermitage in times, come by collapse, abandonment or any other catastrophic reason, in large part, also, to the unpremeditated action of men who in the past hardly cared about their historical-heritage heritage.

An undoubtedly magical place, it is an excellent reference from which to bask in pleasure for a few minutes, before continuing the journey and be amazed by the art, history and legend of a place, Armenteira, that even after the centuries that have passed since its creation, It still has many mysteries and secrets to tell.
