Lifesize buck bust sculpture
Carved from white pine and attached real antlers per customer request. Actually was the first time I had ever attached real antlers.
Had to pre-drill the antlers to and use screws to fasten them to the sculpture as well as epoxy sculpt to blend the seam. Even had some left over epoxy sculpt and made a bear from it.
Here's a couple more angles.
I really enjoyed carving this, it pushed my boundaries and the customer was very pleased with the result.
I hope you enjoy seeing what I saw, if so feel free to upvote and resteem. I love what I do and I'm happy to share.
Thanks for looking
Wow, you are so very talented! I admire artists who can find shapes hidden in the raw material. The Agony and the Ecstasy, by Irving Stone, describes how Michelangelo found David, within the smooth, white carrara marble. I think this is the same gift you have. What a beautiful way to honor the tree - by turning it into something else strong and sturdy and to be admired. Thank you for sharing 🌱
@bia.birch thank you for the wonderful comment. Indeed it is already in the tree waiting for me to set it free.
Honestly this sculpture looks beautiful in the photographs. I think you used pine because the color of the wood was ideal for this deer. I imagine that the details are better appreciated person-person. I congratulate you! @jonatftforest
Thank you @marcybetancourt indeed it is white pine. Abundant in my area and easy to carve. You are right, pictures don't do it justice. Thanks again 🙂
That's pretty damn impressive O_O I didn't realise they were real antlers, they blended so well I thought you had just done that amazing a job on them ^_^;
Very cool works! Lovely details! 😊
