I have used ink in a flowing way before but it wasn't until recently I discovered the really cool qualities of this medium.

I think most use it the way cartoonists and calligraphic artist do - in a pen or with a pencil on dry paper. I did so too until I thought - why not try wet-in-wet? What I love is that it runs really smooth when it is mixed with water and can travel long distances on the paper - but when it is not mixed with water - it stays put.

This particular painting I drew some guidelines - then wet one part of the paper at a time - mixed the ink with some water in the brush and painted in the dry areas and let the ink run in to the wet areas. The spray bottle was used to splatter the paint in a random manner and also to lead the water into new areas. I will show this technique in future tutorials.

A perfect black cat came out of that ink cloud. That must have been so satisfying; watching the ink spread and into tiny little branches.

True! I think I developing towards a rather flowing technique applicable in various medium. You are neat in digital. Watercolor too? I will try to learn digital painting this spring and need good steemit teachers ;)

I do digital, acrylic, spray whatever I can get my hands on : ) haha however my great regret is constantly botching watrcolour. Work like yours makes me want to keep trying!

I like the contrast of the eyes against the black of the fur! Awesome stuff, keep it up :D

Thank you! Yeah, eyes are important - I would love to try to make portraits where the eyes are secondary focus. That would be interesting

Im looking forward for this technique, looks amazing! This ink wather miwing on your painting looks very natural.

Thanks! It feel really cool!

Thank you for sharing :D
A new technique I'm looking forward to try out.
