My sculpture of a Chigüire | Mi escultura de un Chigüire

Hola amigos de steemit, hoy cerrando el fin de semana les quiero compartir esta figura de un Chigüire, asi lo llamamos en Venezuela, el cual es el roedor mas grande del mundo y pertenece a la especie de los caviomorfos. La escultura fue hecha para un cliente un poco particular en gustos, ya que su mascota era un Chigüire!! lo cual es poco común.

 Hello friends of  steemit, today closing the weekend I want to share this figure of a  Chigüire, so we call it in Venezuela, which is the largest rodent in the  world and belongs to the species of caviomorpha. The sculpture was made for a customer a little particular in tastes, since his mascot was a Chigüire !! Which is rare.

Les contare algunas curiosidades que debes saber sobre estos animales:

  I will tell you some curiosities that you should know about these animals: 

1.  Estos roedores suelen vivir en comunidades principalmente habitadas por hembras ya que hay 2 por cada macho. 
2.  Su comunicación es principalmente basada en las señales químicas que  producen sus dos glándulas. Una se llama morrillo y se encuentra en una  protuberancia ovalada sobre el hocico de los machos. La otra glándula se encuentra en el ano de ambos sexos por lo que se piensa que es para distinguir a los mienbros del grupo. 
3.  El chigüire además derefugiarse en el agua, se alimenta en ella y regula su temperatura corporal. 
4.  Una vez que nacen las crías tienen poco tiempo antes de alimentarse de  pasto por lo que a las madres no les importa tener que amamantar a una  cria que no sea suya. 

 1. These rodents usually live in communities mainly inhabited by females since there are 2 for each male.
2. Their communication is primarily based on the chemical signals produced by their two glands. One is called morrillo and is located in an oval protuberance on the muzzle of the males. The other gland is found in the anus of both sexes for what is thought to be to distinguish the members of the group.
3).  The chigüire, besides refuging in water it feeds from it and regulates its body temperature.
4).  Once the babies are born they have little time before feeding on grass  so mothers do not mind having to nurse a baby that is not theirs.
