I wanted to experiment with creating a CG version of a real environment in order to have accurate reflections on glossy objects in a scene.
I ended up making the surface of the sphere a little bit diffused, but when it was 100% smooth and reflective you could see individual bricks and bits of refuse in the reflection, which was not an easy trick to accomplish.
This is really nice. I damn near failed lighting and rendering myself.
